“Hijacking” Free Hotspot From Bedroom :)

Hi..hi…ini anggap aja sekuel ke dua dari yang udah saya tulis sebelumnya tentang Free Hotspot di Jabodetabek. Ada pertanyaan geli dari kawan2x, ” kalo udah malem dan cafe/mall nya tutup gimana dunk ? Jadi ga bisa internet gratis :) “. Isen-iseng saya nyoba searching gimana memperkuat penerimaan Wireless kita supaya untuk teman2x yang rumahnya ga jauh dari Hotspot bisa tetep internetan gratis…dan traraammmm….Untung ada solusi wajanbolicnya Pak Egoen (http://opensource.telkomspeedy.com/wiki/index.php/Wajanbolic).

Dengan wajanbolic ini kita bisa mendapatkan jangkauan penerimaan sampai +/- 1 KM…so buat teman2x yang rumahnya cuma 200-300 m dari lokasi hotspot bisa tetep online…:)…Untuk teman2x yang challange membuat sendiri caranya juga gampang kok, silahkan buka aja link Pak Egoen diatas, atau kalo ga mau repot2x bikin, order aja dari teman2x di http://www.jogjabolic.com/, harganya juga ga mahal2x amat, kalo ga salah sekitar Rp. 300 ribuan dan sudah tinggal pake.

Berikut tips yang mungkin berguna :

1. Pastikan teman2x sudah mencoba dulu koneksi di Hotspot tersebut.

2. Jika ada WEP/WPA atau password yang dipakai oleh hotspot tersebut, teman2x harus sudah berhasil mendapatkannya. Minta saja kepada pegawai cafe atau mall tempat Target kita.

3. Biasanya Wifi network di kantor2x pemerintahan ga di protek, so coba aja deket2x kantor pemerintah (saya sudah pernah coba dan berhasil):).

4. Bisa dipake sebagai bridge antara rumah ke kantor (semakin Clean-Line-of-Sight, semakin bagus dan jauh).

Okey, ditunggu share pengalamannya ya….:)…

/ As the next series of what I wrote before on my previous posting, I put this post. After I wrote the previous article some of friends come and asking about “how if I want to have that free hotspot on my bedroom ? :) “. Wow this rather hard question for me :) …We could not lay down cable from hotspot location to our home, right ??:) So how about to increase our wifi reception capability ??? Then I tried to searching “cheap” way to strengthen wifi reception :) ..Trarammmm…Finally thatnk to Pak Egoen (http://opensource.telkomspeedy.com/wiki/index.php/Wajanbolic) on his invention of Wajanbolic/Frying-pan-antenna (yes, Wajanbolic made from Frying Pan) :) .

This Wajanbolic capable to increace Wifi reception for the distance +/- 1 km (depends on environment). Just imagine if you are stay about 300-400 m away from the hostpot location, you still have free internet while lying down on the bed.:).

To make this kind of antenna it’s not hard thing to do, since it’s only built from easy-to-find-material, or if we would like to purchase this, just call to my friend on http://www.jogjabolic.com/. A complete ready-to-use Wajanbolic only cost about Rp. 300000. :)

Here some tips from me:

1. Make sure you already try the target hotspot before purchase the antenna. Just make sure that IT”S ABSOLUTELY FREE :) .

2. If there some security feature on hotspot (WEP/WPA or Password), make sure you already request this to the waitress…

3. Some goverment Wifi network is unprotected, just try ( I made it before :) ).

4. Could be used to bridge connection such from Office to home (must be Clean-Line-Of-Sight).

Iseng-iseng searching dimana bisa ketemu Hostpot Gratis di Jabodatabek (sapa tau butuh waktu lagi jj sama keluarga :) ), dan akhirnya dapet kayak di attachement. Mungkin belum semuanya, but at least sebagai awal cukup lumayan. Nanti kalo ada yang baru akan saya coba update lagi :) . Culture Shock ??!!

Culture shock ! Mungkin sebuah ungkapan yang agak asing di dengar di sebagian orang, tapi pasti semua orang pernah merasakannnya :) . Beberap tahun lalu seorang teman saya pindah dari sebuah company local ke Multi-national company, dan tentu saja ini merupakan sebuah perbedaan yang sangat significant. Environment baru, dan tentunya sebuah budaya baru, 180 derjat berubah kadang2x:). Dan dalam 2 hari saja rekan tersebut sudah tidak betah, lalu memutuskan untuk kembali ke perusahaan lamanya:). Hal yang sama juga pernah saya alami, dan rasanya ga enak banget. But untungnya feeling ini hanya terjadi pada minggu2x pertama saja, minggu2x selanjutnya sudah mulai bisa beradaptasi.

Tidak hanya dibutuhkan sebuah intelegensia untuk menerima sebuah perbedaan, tapi juga sebuah kecerdasan emosi (keikhlasan) yang akan membuat kita respect terhadap perbedaan. Dengan demikian, kita bisa merasa nyaman tanpa harus “menjadi orang lain” :) .

/ Culture shock ??!! It may not a common words to hear for certain people. But I am sure that every of us has got this experience. View years ago, one of my friend has move from a local company to a multi-national company, and of course he faced with new environment, co-workers and culture. Do you know how long he stand at the time ? Only two days before he then decided to move-back to his previous company :) . I did face the same case too. It was not a comfort experience. But, luckily this feeling only last for first week, after that I tried to adapt with this changes and until now I feel happy :) .

People need more than intelligence to adapt with changes, it like more emotional intelegence to addapt with something different and of course while we retain “to be our self”. :)

Wanna have your free domain name ??:D:P

Kayaknya topics ini dah basi dech :) , but ga papa kalo coba di tulis. Singkat aja, pasti banyak temen2x yang udah punya personal web di free-web (geocities/lycos etc), blog atau social network (friendster/facebook etc).

But, web2x itu sebagian besar pasti naruh pages kita di dalam sub-domain nya ( kayak blog ini real domain name nya adalah http://febrians.wordpress.com). Trus, gimana caranya kalo kita pengin punya domain sendiri (kayak yahoo.com, google.com) tapi ga perlu beli domain ???? Pasti lebih enak dunk, teman2x kita jadi ga perlu ngapalin domain kepanjangan ? He..he…Sekarang itu semua memungkinkan buka aja http://www.co.nr. Trus register aja kayak kita bikin free-webmail. Dan voila, sekarang kita punya domain sendiri dech (kayak blog ini jadi http://www.febrians.co.nr :) ).

/Well, this post seem oldy :) , but I think it’s okey to write down. It simply to said many of us already has their own freeweb (like geocities/lycos etc), blog or social network (friendster/facebook etc).

But most of those services would put our pages on their sub-domain-name (such this blog real domain name is http://febrians.wordpress.com). So, how if we would like to have our own domain name (such yahoo.com or google.com) without to spent any penny ??? Well, our friend wouldn’t need to memorize complete name of our web :) , nice right ??:). Today it will be a real thing. Just point your browser to
http://www.co.nr.  and follow the registration step-by-step as you register your own free-mail. Voila, now you also has the domain like mine ( http://www.febrians.co.nr :) )

Re-Cycling Old stuff – another green internet ???!:)

Sebenarnya udah lama pengin post topics ini, cuma baru kesampaian sekarang. Agak menggelitik juga waktu ada temen curhat di milist alasan dia jarang online, katanya dikantornya akses internet sangat terbatas, dan banyak social-relationship web dan free-email yang di block.
Sebenarnya sech kalo mau sedikit kreatif nyari, kita bisa lho dapet koneksi internet murah, kan sekarang banyak tuch yang kayak Telkomsel “Flash Unlimmited”, speedy, ataupun CDMA based kayak StarOne.. Semuanya memberikan tarif yang menggiurkan banget:):D (apalagi kalo dibandingkan dengan harga internet dial-up telkomnet) :) :D.
Nah sesuai dengan judul diatas, aku coba buat buka lagi pintu gudang, dan nyari2x Handphone bekas yang udah lama banget pensiun. Voila, ketemu dech Sony-Ericsson T310.Saktinya HP ini (paling ga 5 tahun lalu dech ;) ), dah dilengkapi dengan IR, camera , GPRS class 4, dan bisa dijadiin IR Modem.:).

Nah proses selanjutnya yaitu nyari interface IR buat di PC. Coba2x nyari dan ketemu di jakartanotebook.com
Harganya juga ga sampe 30 ribu :D ):). Oya harga handphone T310 sekarang sekitar 100 ribu an.
Setelah semua hardware ketemu, selanjutnya tinggal cari softwarenya (driver IR modem). Driver tersebut bisa di download di sini.

Selanjutnya tinggal coba create dial-up account di PC. Tapi sebelumnya kita harus setup account GPRS dulu di SE T310, step by stepnya bisa ditemukan di sini.

Test dial-up dan bumm!!, terkoneksi ke internet, test browsing juga okey, meski kecepatan hanya 40kbps (GPRS class 4), tapi setidaknya cukup kalau cuma untuk buka email dan online di YM.

Ada lagi trick yang cukup menarik untuk mendongkrak waktu reload :

1. Gunakana browser Apple Safari.

2. Install 1Clickboost, ini sudah saya buktikan bisa optimize sampe 20-30%. :) Menarik bukan ??1

3. Gunakan local proxy seperti Proxy+, ini akan menghemat waktu saat me-reload objeks yang sering digunakan.:)
Nah internet kan ga perlu mahal, selain itu kita juga bisa menggunakan kembali product2x yang sudah lama kebuang (tidak harus selalu pakai SE T310, Nokia 6600 de-el-el juga bisa).

/This post inspired from one of my old-friend email on my mailing-list, he said that he got limited internet access at his office, this affected he could not reply frequently.

At that time I want write this post, but sadly I also got limmited time for writing :) . I thaught nowdays is different than past 5 – 6 years, if we could going creative for digging information we could have UNLIMMITED internet access only with A HUNDRED BUCKS of Rupiahs. Interesting ?? :) . There are some Service providers offering such packages like : Telkomsel “Flash Unlimmited”, speedy, or CDMA based like StarOne.

But here, it’s not my turn to talk about which one better, cause those Providers do not pay me yet :) .

Anyway, as the subject above, I start unpacked my old-stuff boxes to find some interesting thing to fulfill this objective. Voila, I found my old Sony-Ericsson T310, the high-end MobilePhone (at least five years ago :) ).Good thing of this gadget is already equiped with attachable camera, infrared port, and could be used as GPRS infrared-modem.

Next step is how to make sure all of this working. I start looking for infrared reciever for PC, this quite difficult but finally I found at jakartanotebook.com which price less than 30 thousand rupiahs. Then the next job is about collecting required software, you can find T310 infrared modem driver here . After we got all things attached, we should then create dial-up internet account, but before that, make sure we already setup GPRS account on T310, we can find step-by-step here.

Do dial-up test and…Bumm!! We are connected to Internet. Browsing test, email test, everything seem okey :) , although we only have 40 kbps (GPRS class 4), but it’s okey for email and Instant-Messaging.

Finally some small tips to make our journey faster :

1. Use Apple Safari browser. This browser offer faster loading, even compare to Mozilla 3.

2. Install 1Clickboost Optimizer. I checked already, I could have 20-30% faster.

3. Utilize local proxy software such Proxy+. This could minimized time when we re-load frequent objects.

 

So, we have our own cheap-internet access.

War Games 2- a Movie for Weekend:)

Akhir minggu ini kami coba habiskan waktu dengan nonton War Games 2: The dead Code.
Enaknya minggu ini liburan cukup lama (weekend+libur HUT RI), jadi bisa lebih santai ngatur waktunya.

Anyway, film ini menurut kami standar aja, ga da yang luar biasa, baik secara efect, scitech, maupun cerita (masih kalah jauh dari Die Hard 4) :) .
Dimulai dengan sequel demonstrasi RIPLEY komputer super canggih yang didesain untuk auto-defense dan teror-prevention dalam menggagalkan aksi teror.Jalan cerita film ini mengisahkan tentang Will Farmer seorang hacker muda yang memenangkan game Terorisme yang dijalankan oleh RIPLEY, game ini sendiri digunakan untuk mendeteksi bibit2x terorisme. Dapat ditebak bahwa akhirnya Will terjebak dicap sebagai teroris dan menjadi bahan buruan RIPLEY, mau tahu lebih lanjut bagimana RIPLEY mengendalikan surveillance kamera , mengatur traffic light untuk melenyapkan Will ?? Beli donk DVD nya :) :P

So here the story :
